A letter to my younger self.

Let me preface this by saying that I don’t watch much TV and even less movies. I’m a reader, always have been. My internal world is so rich and decadent that I’m often left with lots to desire from films and TV.

That being said, I recently participated in an online workshop hosted by Erick Godsey. He asked everyone to introduce themselves in the chat by stating your name, where you are from and what’s your favorite movie… His reasoning was that the movie you choose is a reflection of a part of our psyche that we may not have total, on demand access to.

Hi, Everyone!! I’m Leah from Fort Lauderdale and my favorite movie(s) are the Batman trilogy.

As everyone’s responses came flooding in, there was an overwhelming percentage of people who responded with “Interstellar”.

Being in such an intimate container with Soul community, I knew that I HAD to see this film because of the immense impact that it’s made on my peers.

So, I get cozy one evening and Ubered some Indian food and embarked on watching Interstellar.

This film resonated with me on many levels, deeply. I wept out of empathy for the characters but also for the “hidden” parts of myself that were being re-membered…

The film is heavily science based (which I love) and plays with the quantum equations of non-linear time and space.

Matthew McConaughey’s character, Cooper, is a pilot for NASA on a mission to find a new planet to inhabit to save humanity from the destruction that have done to Earth. (Earth is an anagram for Heart.)

Before he leaves for his mission, Cooper’s daughter is receiving what she believes to be Morse code communication from an entity that is throwing books off of her book case and altering the second hand function on her watch.

The message is always - STAY

We find out later in the film that this “entity” that’s been trying to make contact is a future version of Cooper in a 5th dimensional reality that can travel through time and space… frantically begging the younger version of himself to STAY with his daughter out of sadness from the life he could’ve had with his family.

What if the signs that we mistake for coincidence everyday is a future version of ourselves trying to make contact?

What is that future version of ourselves so desperately trying to tell us?

Why aren’t we listening?

What would this current, present moment version of yourself tell your younger self?

Have you ever felt the pull of a future version of yourself pushing you through a fear threshold? “Acting” completely out of “Character”?

How can we access all versions of ourself more clearly?

How can we be more aware of the constant communication that we are receiving from the Field?

The answer is counterintuitive, especially in a world that moves at such a fast pace.

SLOW DOWN

Stop and smell the roses, as the old saying goes… If Cooper would have slowed down, listened to what his daughter and future version of himself were ACTUALLY saying, we’d be dealing with a much different story and A LOT less regret.

So my next question is, Why do we constantly keep making choices based on history and a past version of self?

Have we numbed our senses so much that we can’t hear the alarms blaring?

What does the Whisper say to you?

Why haven’t you answered?

I’m giving this version and my younger version of myself permission to change. To make a different choice. The Whisper can’t be ignored anymore.

My ego very cleverly convinced me that my intention for starting this blog and coaching practice was to help guide people toward authenticity and personal freedom, when in actuality my true motive was found deep in my psyche…

This is my Morse code for the younger version of myself to decipher. This is me trying to desperately get her attention. To tell her to slow down and smell the roses. To let her know that there IS a better way and that life doesn’t have to be that hard. That you are here for a reason and your life has purpose. That your needs matter and people care about what you have to say. That you are loved and that there is no one else in the Universe that has your unique gifts, talents and perspective.

To give her permission to change…

To make a different choice…

May this be your permission slip too…

This is my invitation to you; Spend 5 minutes in silence everyday this week. Just 5 minutes. Bonus points if your able to do this outside in nature. 5 minutes of just listening…

Be curious. Be open.

What does the Whisper have to tell you?
